Congratulations to Forest NB member AV Group on being recognized in the Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers 2016 competition.

The competition, now in its 8th year, highlights the region’s best workplaces based on an 8-point evaluation scale. These include:

  • Physical workplace
  • Work atmosphere & social
  • Health, financial & family benefits
  • Vacation & time off
  • Employee communications
  • Performance management
  • Training & skills development
  • Community involvement

“This special designation recognizes the employers in Canada’s four Atlantic provinces that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work,” reads the competition website.

According to the site, AV Group received the distinction based on three key factors. They help prepare their employees for the future with retirement planning assistance and matching RSP contributions. They develop their employee’s skills by providing in-house training and tuition subsidies for training programs up to $10,000. They also provide opportunities for students to gain experience through paid summer internships, co-op opportunities and support youth skilled trades career development programs.

AV Group directly and indirectly employs 2,867 New Brunswickers. Their mills are located in Nackawic, where they employ 91% of the total town workforce, and Atholville where they employ 41%.
