The New Brunswick Forest Products Association Applauds Premier’s Economic Development Action Plan

Fredericton, N.B. – Premier Alward announced and released a new economic development strategy designed to accelerate growth emphasising community driven ventures. The New Brunswick Forest Product Association was pleased to see value-added wood as one of the six key sectors identified in the Premier’s strategy.

Mr. Kevin Jewett, Chairman of the Board of Directors said; “We are eager to work with the Premier to identify specific strategies that will grow the forest sector. We were pleased to see the strategy specifically mention harvesting equipment financing and continuous improvement practices. As identified and stated in many of the recent forestry studies, the Sawmill industry is key to the on-the-ground forestry operations that feed the entire value chain of companies that need the renewable resource to keep our mills and plants running.”

Mark Arsenault, President and CEO, said; “It’s about creating the jobs in the communities that we serve. We look forward to meeting with Business New Brunswick and the Alward Government to bring this strategy to our towns.”
