In the next 3 to 5 years:

  • Between 250 and 300 heavy machine operators will take their retirement
  • Between 50 and 100 opportunities will be available to become an entrepreneur

Heavy duty mechanic

  • Check dozers, haul trucks, excavators and other heavy construction and mining equipment for proper performance
  • Inspect equipment for defects and malfunctions
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Repair and replace defective parts, components and/or systems
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and that it meets or exceeds manufacturer’s specifications

Forest machine/Trucking operator training

  • Operate in a safe, efficient and productive manner
  • Maintain productivity, production and utilization targets
  • Perform daily maintenance and repairs as required
