NBFPA Supports the Establishment of the New Northern Hardwood Research Institute in Edmundston

Fredericton, NB – The New Brunswick Forest Products Association is proud to support the establishment of the new Northern Hardwood Research Institute located in Edmundston, New Brunswick. Mr. Kevin Jewett, Chairman of the Board of Directors, said; “We’re proud to see the partners come together and fund this very important project for Northern New Brunswick. The creation of this institute will generate research and teaching jobs here in New Brunswick and will work to improve the quantity and quality of hardwood in this province.”

The Federal Government (ACOA), the Provincial Government, the Université de Moncton and industry partners will contribute more than 4 million dollars to fund the institute for the next four years.

David Alward, Ministers Bernard Valcourt, Keith Ashfield, Paul Robichaud, Madeleine Dubé as they show their commitment to the Université de Moncton. We are confident U de M in partnership with industry and government will seek innovative ways to improve silviculture for hardwood growth in the future”
